Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 egg
  • tablespoons melted butter
  • ½ teaspoon pandan paste adjust depending on the brand

Toppings

  • Cheddar cheese sliced into small pieces

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add the evaporated milk, egg, melted butter, and pandan paste.
  • Mix until the batter becomes smooth and no dry ingredients remain. Avoid overmixing.
  • Prepare your puto molds. Lightly grease them if necessary.
  • Fill each mold about ¾ full with the batter.
  • Heat the steamer over medium-high heat.
  • Once the water reaches a full boil, carefully place the molds inside the steamer.
  • Steam for 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the size of your molds.
  • After about 10 minutes, quickly open the steamer and place slices of cheddar cheese on top of each puto.
  • Continue steaming for another 2 minutes or until the cheese has melted.
  • Remove from the steamer and let cool slightly before removing from the molds.
  • Serve warm and enjoy.
