This Easy Yema Spread recipe is creamy, smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced - not too sweet like many commercial versions. Made with egg yolks, evaporated milk, condensed milk, all-purpose cream, and cornstarch, it's perfect for spreading on pandesal, toast, crackers, or using as a filling for cakes and pastries.
- 6 large egg yolks
- 1 large can 390 grams evaporated milk
- 1 large can 392 grams condensed milk
- 1 250 ml all-purpose cream
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
Place the egg yolks in a cooking pan and whisk until smooth.
Add the evaporated milk.
Pour in the condensed milk.
Add the all-purpose cream.
Add the cornstarch.
Whisk everything together until the cornstarch is fully dissolved and there are no lumps.
Place the pan over medium heat.
Cook while stirring continuously using a balloon whisk.
As the mixture thickens, continue whisking to keep it smooth and creamy.
Once it reaches your preferred consistency, turn off the heat.
Continue whisking for another minute or two using the remaining heat.
